The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is slated to be held from 27th March 2022 to 29th May 2022. For the unversed, as many as 10 teams will be participating in the upcoming edition of the tournament. In this article, we will cover IPL 2022 Teams, Format and Venues for the upcoming season.
Two new teams, namely Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have entered the fray. Following are the list of the teams playing in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League:

IPL 2022 Format:
With the coming of two new teams, there is also a change in the format. The 10 teams are divided into two groups of five teams each. Following are the groups:
Group A:
Mumbai Indians
Kolkata Knight Riders
Rajasthan Royals
Delhi Capitals
Lucknow Super Giants
Group B:
Chennai Super Kings
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Punjab Kings
Gujarat Titans
As per the format, each teams of Group A will be playing all the other teams twice from that group. Add to that, it will also be playing against its Group B counterpart twice and once against the other teams of Group B.
Schedule of IPL 2022
The schedule of the IPL 2022 has been announced. The tournament will kick off with a blockbuster encounter between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders on 26th March at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both these two teams reached the final last year. CSK eventually beat KKR to win the title. The final of IPL 2022 will be held on 29th May 2022.
All the games will be held across four stadiums in Maharashtra. The teams will be playing a total of 14 matches in the league stage. As many as 74 matches will be held in IPL 2022, which also includes knockouts. The schedule for the knockout matches is yet to be announced.
Venues:
Keeping in mind the spread of Covid-19, BCCI has decided to conduct all the league stage matches only in Maharashtra. Only three cities, namely Mumbai, Pune and Navi Mumbai will host the matches of the IPL 2022.
Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and MCA International Stadium in Pune are the 4 venues where the matches of IPL 2022 will take place. Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each. Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium will host 15 games each.
