Gameweek 28 Preview: Another week of Premier league brings us another week of fantasy premier league football. A season blighted by postponements has given us yet another silver lining by providing us with a massive double gameweek 28 where no less than 8 teams play twice. Here, we’ll cover everything you need to know, including best players to target, differentials, chip strategies and much more for double gameweek 28. Teams To Target in Gameweek 28
As many as eight teams double up in gameweek 28 including the likes of Chelsea, Norwich, Southampton, Newcastle, Wolves, Watford, Leeds and Aston Villa. Chelsea undoubtedly has the best fixtures as they travel away to Burnley and Norwich which should translate to at least one clean sheet for their defensive assets. Southampton also has a decent set of fixtures against Villa(away) and Newcastle(home) and they also come in good form, having progressed to the FA cup quarterfinals, beating West Ham. Newcastle has also revitalised their season under Eddie Howe and their fixtures against Brighton(home) and Southampton(away) are decent. Wolves, although not in great form also has a good set of home fixtures against Crystal Palace and a struggling Watford. A word of caution amidst all the euphoria around teams doubling up, don’t forget Liverpool and Spurs have got great home fixtures against West Ham and Everton respectively so ignore their players at your own peril.

Preparing your DEFENCE for Gameweek 28
Chelsea’s defensive assets should be the priority this week as they are favoured to keep a clean sheet against both Burnley and Norwich. Antonio Rudiger would be the safe pick as he is more or less assured to play 90 minutes in both matches but if you want to be a little more adventurous you could go for Reece James who is expected to play a bit forward as the right wing back. The only caveat is that his minutes could be managed as he’s only recently been back from an injury. Liverpool’s full backs are always in consideration regardless of who they play so you cannot really go wrong with Trent-Alexander Arnold (if you not already own him) or Andy Robertson whose also been in great form recently. Wolves’ Romain Saiss and Connor Coady are also good shouts for their double home fixtures and so are Newcastle’s Fabian Schar and Matt targett who are coming on the back of three clean sheets in their last five fixtures. Southampton’s Livramento and bednarek are also good punts ahead of their double versus Villa and Newcastle. My differential pick would be Matt Doherty who is coming on the back of an 18 pointer against leeds.
Gameweek 28 MIDFIELD options
Despite only playing once amidst a plethora of double gameweek teams king MO SALAH who is coming on the back of a historic 28 pointer in gameweek 26 is the standout pick yet again. Players like Coutinho and Raphinha have got excellent doubles and are great picks in their own right but I still feel Salah on his day can easily outscore them in one game only, such is his explosive nature of finding the back of the net. One player who has also caught the eye in recent gameweeks is Joe Willock who along with teammate Ryan Fraser is coming into this double in great form. James Ward Prowse is also a decent pick ahead of his double having been extremely creative from set pieces and is also on penalties. My two picks from teams who play once are Son and Saka as they both have been integral parts of their respective teams and both have a double in gameweek 29 as well. My differential midfield pick for this week would be Kai Havertz who is seemingly nailed in the blues front three and could plunder against Burnley and Norwich.
Forwards who can be Bankers in gameweek 28
Again, like Salah, I believe Harry Kane inspite of playing just once can easily outscore forwards who have a double. He is the fulcrum of the Spurs attack and inspite of spurs’ mid-week loss against Middlesbrough is expected to be involved against a vulnerable Everton defence. Che Adams has caught the eye in recent gameweeks and along with Broja are good picks for their double. Watkins is another forward with a double and the recent formation change by Gerrard to 4-3-1-2 has favoured him atleast on the eye test. Jimenez is in the classic case of ‘don’t buy don’t sell’ as his numbers haven’t been good lately but still could be involved as he plays twice at Molineux. My differential forward for this week would be Jamie vardy who came back after injury in the last match and looked in good touch as he helped himself to a goal, assist and three bonus points in his cameo from the bench.
GOALKEEPERS who could earn clean sheet this gamewek
Jose Sa and Martin Dubravka are great picks ahead of their respective doubles and also have a decent schedule ahead with the latter doubling in gameweek 29 as well. Fraser Forster is a decent pick as well with favourable fixtures ahead but always remember you mustn’t pick players in isolation of this gameweek but also the future gameweeks. Keeping this in mind Ramsdale is a decent buy with a good fixture against Watford who are very goal shy and a double in 29 as well. My differential goalkeeper for this week would be Emiliano Martinez who could make points with both clean sheets and saves. One other thing to keep in mind is to ideally never go for a keeper from the top four sides because you’ll be locking up one of your places which could be utilised more efficiently by other picks.
Players To Avoid for gameweek 28
As good as Manchester City are avoid their players this gameweek as they play against their bitter rivals Manchester United (also avoid) in a crunch match with both teams desperate for points for different reasons. Norwich and Watford inspite of their doubles are also a no-go as they have been abysmal throughout the season. Foster, Dennis and Pukki might be tempting but I fully expect them to blank and those places could be filled with a plethora of options mentioned above. West Ham players are also a sell in my opinion with some difficult fixtures coming up and even though Bowen has served us well it’s the right time to sell him as well.
Chip Strategies for gamewek 28
A popular strategy this gameweek is to use your Wildcard in order to best navigate the fixture swings coming up and also to target players who have a double in gameweek 29. You can also manage Blank Gameweek 30 (only four fixtures) efficiently with your wildcard and this is especially helpful for those without a free hit. Concurrently, you could use a free hit for gameweek 30 and load your team with players having a double this week and in gameweek 29 which makes Bench boosting a viable option in 29 as well. All in all, which chip you use is entirely dependant on your team and the type of manager you are.
