FPL Gameweek 22 Tips: Matches, Players to target, Captain and vice-captains picks and more- 2022/23

You are in the right place if you are looking for Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 tips.

The English Premier League will return to action after a week-long break due to FA Cup action. Chelsea and Fulham play against each other in the late kickoff on Friday. Arsenal still leads the league table by five points after a victory over Manchester United last weekend. They are being chased by Manchester City, who will face Spurs in the biggest match of the weekend. With the transfer window just coming to a close, there were a lot of transfers that took place in January. The FPL is also back in action. Manchester United and Leeds United will each have two games this week. We now bring you a few tips that could help you with team selection for Gameweek 22.

Matches to target

The FPL’s GW22 will feature 11 matches. There are a few teams that are fighting relegation, while there are other teams that are competing for a place in Europe this season. As these teams play each other, we bring you a few matches that should be targeted to get the maximum points out of them.

Everton vs Arsenal

The English Premier League leaders will make a trip to Merseyside and face a struggling Everton side. They will play their first match under the management of Sean Dyche. Arsenal are out of the FA Cup and will now concentrate on winning the EPL. They average around three goals per match at home and will look to show the same dominance against the Toffees. This could also turn into a tight affair, with only one or two goals separating the two sides.

Brentford vs Bournemouth

Brentford will look to extend their unbeaten streak to nine matches when they host Bournemouth. The Bees have only lost one match at home. Their eight-match unbeaten streak includes famous wins against Manchester City and Liverpool. Thomas Frank will expect his team to register a win in this match.

Manchester United vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United will look to return to winning ways when they face Crystal Palace at home. The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw. A free-kick scored by Olise in injury time and stoppage time denied three points for the Red Devils. Erik ten Hag’s men will also play twice in the gameweek.

Spurs vs Manchester City

This will be the biggest match of Gameweek 22. Both teams have ambitious and passionate managers. The match will see two of the best strikers in the EPL against each other. Both players are in most of the FPL teams. This will be a tight affair between the two teams.

Manchester United vs Leeds United

Two rivals meet once again at Old Trafford. Both teams will be ending the GW by playing their second match of the weekend. The match will favour the home team as they look to strengthen their hold on the top four.

FPL GW 22 tips 2022/23: Players to target

The transfer window saw a lot of player movement, particularly among teams fighting for relegation. We have some suggestions for which players to target in Gameweek 22.

Goalkeepers:

David De Gea (4.9): Manchester United will compete in two games during the GW. David De Gea is in fine form for the Red Devils and has eight clean sheets in 20 matches. He will look to take the clean sheets into double figures and add points to his FPL manager’s team.

Nick Pope (5.5): With six clean sheets in the last six EPL games, Nick Pope is also a good contender to give a healthy amount of points in the GW. He has 12 clean sheets to his name this season and leading the race for the Golden Glove.

Defenders:

Pervis Estupinan (4.5): Brighton’s full-back showed his creative side by providing two assists against Leicester City. He was solid at the back for Ecuador in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He will be up against Bournemouth this weekend. The player will look to create more threats from the left side and add goals or assists to his tally.

Luke Shaw (5.3): Luke Shaw has settled well under Erik ten Hag. He is now a regular choice at left-back and is one of the top performers for this Manchester United side. He will play two matches in the GW and can score points in double figures.

Romain Perraud (4.2): Southampton’s full-back scored a brace in their FA Cup tie last weekend. The player can create chances with his left foot and also has the ability to convert free kicks into goals. He could be a bargain pick in the GW.

Midfielders:

Bruno Fernandes (9.9): Bruno Fernandes has been the main threat in United’s squad since signing from Sporting. He will be the key to breaking the defences of Crystal Palace and Leeds United.

Mo Salah (12.7): The Liverpool forward is not in the best of form this season. The Reds are also struggling a bit in the league. However, they have a chance to bounce back as they can earn a few points in the coming fixture. Salah is their key man in attack, and he will look to add a few goals in the coming weeks.

Marcus Rashford (7.2): The Englishman is in the best form of his life since returning from Qatar. He has scored five goals in the last six matches and will be eyeing more in the two matches coming this week.

Forwards:

Callum Wilson (7.1): With Isak out injured, Callum Wilson is the likely candidate to lead Newcastle United’s attack. He has scored six goals and has four assists to his name this season. The player will look to add more against a struggling West Ham United side.

Erling Haaland (12.2): Erling Haaland bagged his fourth hat-trick of the season against Wolves. The Norwegian has now scored 25 goals in his debut season. He is a must-pick player for every team.

FPL GW 22 tips 2022/23: Captain Picks

Manchester City: Erling Haaland and Riyad Mahrez

Manchester United: Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes

Arsenal: Bukayo Saka

Newcastle United: Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson

The English Premier League is getting excited at both ends of the table. Arsenal is being chased by Manchester clubs and Newcastle United. At the other end of the table, 7–8 teams are battling out relegation. The transfer window saw a movement of a few players and they could be considered for the FPL team in the coming weeks. We hope that these suggestions can help you a bit in the team selection process in your Fantasy Premier League team.
